Dummy Tickets, Fake Statements and Guarantee Promises: What to Avoid

A fabricated document does not just cause a refusal. In several countries it triggers a multi-year bar for misrepresentation.

Every week we meet applicants carrying documents they did not prepare and cannot explain: statements with edited balances, hotel bookings that were never made, employment letters from companies they never worked for. The short-term risk is refusal. The long-term risk is far worse.

What misrepresentation actually costs

  • Refusal of the current application.
  • A recorded finding of misrepresentation, which several countries share in their own systems.
  • Bars on future applications, commonly measured in years.
  • A permanent obligation to declare that history in every later application, anywhere.

Things that look harmless but are not

  1. 1 "Dummy" flight or hotel bookings passed off as confirmed reservations.
  2. 2 A balance transferred in for the application and taken back after.
  3. 3 An employment or salary letter that overstates your role or income.
  4. 4 A relationship described as closer than it is, to justify an invitation.
  5. 5 Omitting an old refusal because "it was long ago".

How to choose a consultant

  • They tell you when your case is weak, and when to wait.
  • They never promise approval — nobody can.
  • They ask you to sign your own forms and read them first.
  • They explain each document and why it matters.
  • They keep your originals with you, and give you copies of everything submitted.

Common questions

An agent offered a guaranteed visa for a fee. Is that possible?

No. No agent, consultant or lawyer can guarantee a visa outcome. Treat such offers as a warning sign.

I once submitted a document I now know was false. What should I do?

Get proper advice before applying again. Voluntary correction handled honestly is usually better than repetition.

Are held or refundable bookings acceptable?

Yes, if described accurately as intended or refundable bookings rather than confirmed travel.
